Background Information

We make precompiled PyMOL builds available at no cost to teachers and full-time students for use in classroom instruction and on homework during the current term. The builds are also intended to help graduate students communicate their molecular research results effectively through creation of professional-grade figures and animations for posters, talks, publications, and dissertations.

Nevertheless, extended reliance upon these builds should be avoided since they may not function, be updated, or remain available beyond a six-month time horizon. Educational-use-only PyMOL builds are provided "AS IS" with no absolutely no maintenance or support services. We have no obligation to grant download access, fix bugs, furnish updates, provide documentation, or meet any other important need you may have in relation to educational-use-only builds.

Please understand that Academic PyMOL Subscriptions are offered so that we can meet your long-term educational usage needs with essential services and baseline accountability. Likewise, if your intended use is professional research and not education, then you are expected to sponsor the project by purchasing an Academic PyMOL Subscription which includes access to the current general-purpose PyMOL builds.
