Microsoft Windows
Option 1: Standalone Executable. This build is easiest to install and is recommended for most users.
- Download and unzip
pymol-0_98rc5-bin-win32.zip.
- Install by double-clicking on "SETUP.EXE".
- Launch PyMOL via the Start Menu.
Option 2: Python-Dependent Executables. If you already
have Python installed and specifically wish to use PyMOL with that external
interpreter, then download and install the executable
build that matches your installed version of Python:
pymol-0_98rc5-bin-win32-py21.zip
pymol-0_98rc5-bin-win32-py22.zip
pymol-0_98rc5-bin-win32-py23.zip
pymol-0_98rc5-bin-win32-py24.zip
For Enterprise Deployments: We can
provide current PyMOL Maintenance Subscribers with a mechanism that
enables end-users to keep their Windows PyMOL versions current
provided that (1) you have a on-site Windows-compatible file-server
that can hold the current PyMOL installer, (2) that end-users have
software installation privileges (local admin), and (3) that you can remotely
drop a text file into the PyMOL directory on client machines. Contact help@schrodinger.com
for more information.
Mac OS X
NOTE: A 3-button wheel mouse is required to use PyMOL on the Macintosh. You'll also need Panther (OS X 10.3) or Tiger (OS X 10.4).
Option 1: MacPyMOL. MacPyMOL is an Aqua-based
PyMOL with a more Mac-like user interface. In addition to
supporting native OpenGL rendering, its unique features include
Copy-and-Paste of images and direct output of QuickTime movies.
- Download and uncompress
macpymol-0_98rc2.tar.gz.
- Install by copying MacPyMOL into your Applications folder (or any suitable location).
- Launch PyMOL by double-clicking on the MacPyMOL icon.
Option 2: PyMOLX11Hybrid. This build combines the standard
PyMOL Tcl/Tk user interface under X11 with a native high-performance
OpenGL window. To use this build, you will need X11 installed from
the Mac OS X installer DVD.
- Download and uncompress
pymol-0_98rc5-bin-osx-x11-hybrid.tar.gz
- Install by copying PyMOLX11Hybrid into your Applications folder (or any suitable location).
- Launch X11 first by double-clicking /Applications/Utilities/X11.
- Then launch PyMOL by double-clicking on PyMOLX11Hybrid.
Option 3: Fink. The Fink
version of PyMOL is another way to get PyMOL running on your
Mac.
